How does Diamond V work?
The majority of the food is digested with the help of enzymes and the stomach and intestines. However, some of the more difficult to digest food is not broken down, but passes to the appendix and large intestine, where instead it is broken down by bacteria and other microorganisms.
Diamond V fermented yeast culture has the greatest effect in the appendix and small intestine, since it contains important nutrients that are needed by the microorganisms. Healthy microflora break down more food and release more nutrients to the horse, enabling the horse to absorb more nutrients from the food – nutrients used for growth and reproduction.
Diamond V does not generate any new yeast culture in the stomach/intestinal system, but boosts the horse’s own microflora to improve the horse’s absorption of nutrients.
It improves horses’ condition!
Horses with good ability to transport oxygen around the body normally perform better. A horse with high oxygen potential can provide the muscle cells with the exact amount of oxygen the muscles need in times of extreme exertion, for example in competitive situations. The lactic acid content in the blood is used as an indicator of the horse’s condition. If the lactic acid content in the horse’s blood is low after hard exercise, this signals that the blood has a good ability to transport oxygen to the muscle cells, i.e. the horse is in good condition.
Study example
The horses exercised for 35 minutes, followed by a 20-minute break. The horses’ pulse was measured while increased. It showed that horses that had been fed Diamond V had a significantly lower pulse compared to the horses who hadn’t. The blood’s haemoglobin transports oxygen around the arteries.
Horses fed Diamond V had a higher content of haemoglobin in the blood and, therefore, their pulse did not need to increase. Diamond V boosts the horse’s condition, increases the conversion of energy, improves the ability to absorb oxygen and increases performance levels.
