Mineral supplement for horses. Used when the feed contains insufficient amounts of silicon. Improves the quality of the hooves, coat and skin.
Vitamin E is an antioxidant which has an important protective function in the body, since it has the ability to neutralise so-called free radicals which break down the muscles during work. Vitamin E counteracts the oxidation in the body’s cells caused by free radicals – a process which, if not stopped, leads to cell damage. Vitamin E also helps supply oxygen to the muscles and in the formation of blood vessels and is important for the immune system and fertility.
When breathing in, the horse takes in greater amounts of free radicals the more it works, which means its need for vitamin E increases during hard work. The need varies depending on diet composition, training and the horse’s performance level. Other situations when there is a greater need for vitamin E is cooling down, feeding with new oats, acidic feed and pregnancy.
A lack of vitamin E in the diet can lead to muscle damage. Vitamin E is fat-soluble and is stored in the muscles, fat tissues and liver. It is important not to overdose vitamin E.
SeloE contains selenium which is a trace element with an important physiological function in horses. Selenium is part of the enzyme that neutralises free radicals (substances formed when the body consumes oxygen). Free radicals have a destructive effect on the body’s tissues and cause them to age. Selenium helps slow down the process. It also plays an important role in the immune system and helps white blood cells fight bacteria and other microorganisms effectively.
Selenium works together with vitamin E and both supplement and boost each other’s effect. They can also replace each other to a certain extent.
Most areas in Sweden suffer from a lack of natural selenium in the soil. Therefore, most Swedish raw food ingredients are low in this substance.
SeloE comprises vitamin E and organically bound selenium. It is well documented that organically bound selenium is absorbed more easily by the horse. This is because all selenium in the plant kingdom is bound in this way. Organically bound selenium also reduces the risk of overdosing.
SeloE also contains the prebiotic inulin, which naturally helps to improve mineral absorption in the intestines. Inulin also has a beneficial effect on the whole of the digestive tract.
