APPLICATION

To be used when the nutritional content of the feed fails to meet the horse’s requirements. Particularly crucial for pregnant and lactating mares, as well as for growing young horses.

Eclipse Biofarmab Foderkrita contains high-quality fine-grained calcium carbonate. In feeding regimens with a phosphorus surplus, such as those involving calcium-deficient hay and/or significant quantities of oats, the addition of calcium supplements is advised.

An adult horse contains approximately 1.5 kg of calcium per 100 kg of body weight, with calcium constituting about 35% of its bone structure.

This mineral plays a vital role in numerous bodily functions, including muscle contractions and the blood clotting mechanism.

Calcium is essential for the development of strong bones, particularly in young horses, though it remains crucial for adults as well. Furthermore, calcium is vital for cellular functioning; a drop in blood calcium levels leads to increased calcium withdrawal from the skeleton, resulting in decalcification.

Physical activity increases the calcium requirement in horses. A common issue is that, despite consuming feed with adequate calcium, horses may still experience calcium deficiency due to a high intake of grains rich in phosphorus. The calcium-to-phosphorus ratio should be between 1.2:1 and 1.8:1.

Pony: 0.5 scoop/day

Horse: 1 scoop/day

Large-sized horse (over 600kg): 1.5 scoop/day

Foals, young horses, lactating mares and horses under intense exertion: 2 scoops/day

The required quantity of calcium supplementation depends on the calcium-phosphorus content of the feed.
