Prevents electrolyte depletion

Enriched with glycine, chelated calcium, and magnesium

APPLICATION

To be used for mitigating electrolyte depletion during periods of heavy sweating, which occurs during training, extended transport, stressful situations, and on hot summer days.

Rehalyt Basic replenishes the horse’s electrolyte balance following periods of heavy sweating.

Electrolytes, essentially salts comprising ions, are critical components of blood and body tissue. They aid in sustaining the ’voltage potential’ across cell membranes, a key factor for the efficient transport of water between cells.

The horse’s sweat is hypertonic, meaning it has a higher concentration of these ions compared to blood and other bodily fluids, Consequently, when horses sweat, they not only lose water but also a significant amount of electrolytes and trace elements.

Electrolyte solutions tailored for horses should mirror the electrolyte composition of horse sweat, but with a reduced concentration of potassium ions, as forage, like hay, is naturally high in potassium. An electrolyte deficiency can cause a decrease in blood volume. Prolonged shortages can impair the body’s water retention capacity, leading to a reduction in body weight. If not addressed, such dehydration can result in muscle cramps, inadequate oxygen, energy, and fluid distribution within the body. Additional complications can include kidney issues, diminished sweating ability, and poor recovery after physical exertion. During diarrohea, horses experience significant fluid and electrolyte losses. Since horses cannot store electrolytes, it is crucial to replenish these continuously.

In addition to sodium, Rehalyt Basic is enriched with potassium, chloride, and glycine, which enhances salt absorption. It also includes chelated calcium and magnesium. Chelated refers to the electrolytes being bound to proteins, a feature that is crucial for their rapid biological absorption.

FEEDING DIRECTIONS

After light exertion: 20-30 g.

After intense exertion: 50-60 g.

Mix well in feed. 60 g replenishes salt lost in approximately 5 litres of sweat. Horses receiving a salt supplement must have unrestricted access to water. 1 scoop = 20 g.

SHELF LIFE

24 months.
