Eclipse Biofarmab Salt is designed for managing and controlling the horse’s salt intake. It serves as a daily supplement that can be tailored to both the prevailing weather conditions and the horse’s level of physical activity.

Horses engaged in rigorous activities are susceptible to rapid electrolyte imbalances and dehydration due to excessive sweating. It is important to consider that horses also lose fluids and electrolytes when breathing, urinating and defecating. For a 500 kg horse, the daily salt requirement is estimated to be 20–40 grams. During winter, reduced sweating often leads to decreased water intake, further heightening the risk of dehydration.

The horse’s blood contains a higher concentration of sodium chloride, commonly known as salt, compared to humans. Consequently, when a horse sweats, it loses significant amounts of salt, primarily extracted from its blood. A horse engaged in intense work for an hour may lose up to 130 grams of salt. Therefore, sodium chloride is the most critical electrolyte for a horse. A deficiency in sodium can result in reduced blood volume. In the long term, insufficient sodium can impair the body’s ability to retain water, leading to a noticeable decrease in body weight. If left untreated, dehydration may cause muscle cramps and impede efficient oxygen, energy, and fluid transport throughout the body. Additional complications that may arise include kidney dysfunction, an impaired ability to sweat, and suboptimal recovery post-exertion.

Remember to always provide horses with unrestricted access to clean water whenever they are supplemented with salt.

Increase application by up to 50% during hot summer days.
