These components are essential for maintaining daily nutrient absorption in horses. Additionally, beetroot is a good source of folic acid, which plays a vital role in metabolism and the production of red blood cells. It is widely used to enhance stamina and speed up recovery.

Beetroot contains sucrose, yet its predominantly water-soluble fibres result in a blood sugar stabilising effect, despite the sugar content. These fibres form a gel-like substance in the intestines, thereby decelerating glucose absorption and consequently moderating blood sugar spikes. Furthermore, the red pigment in beetroot (betanin) acts as a potent antioxidant, safeguarding cells and blood vessels from free radical damage.
